Editorial Policy for HomeCalcUSA.com
Last updated
This page explains how the calculators and written content on HomeCalcUSA.com are produced, how the calculations run, what we verify, and what we deliberately do not claim.
Calculations follow published formulas
Every result on this site comes from a mathematical formula applied to the values you enter. Financial tools use standard published methods, such as the fixed-rate amortization equation for a mortgage payment. Material tools use geometry and unit conversion. No result is generated by guesswork, and no result is personalised to you beyond the inputs you supply.
Where a calculator relies on a formula that is worth understanding, we state the formula on the calculator page and, where useful, in a longer guide.
Assumptions are stated, not hidden
Calculators need defaults — a gravel density, a paint coverage rate, an assessment ratio, a waste allowance. Every default that materially affects a result is shown as an editable input or listed in the assumptions section of the page, so you can replace it with a figure specific to your product, lender or jurisdiction.
When a calculation depends on something we cannot know, we say so rather than picking a number and presenting it as fact.
Estimates vary, and we say by how much where we can
Financial and property estimates depend on inputs that change constantly: interest rates, local tax rates and assessment practices, insurance premiums, lender fees, labor rates and material prices. Two people entering the same property details in different counties can legitimately get very different real-world outcomes.
For this reason we present ranges where a range is honest, and we avoid implying precision the underlying data does not support.
Review and updates
- Calculator logic is reviewed against worked examples when it is written and whenever it is changed.
- Content is updated when a formula, default assumption or commonly cited reference figure changes, or when a reader reports an error.
- Guides show a last-updated date so you can judge how current the material is.
- Corrections are made as soon as they are verified, not batched.
What we do not claim
HomeCalc USA does not claim review by licensed financial advisers, tax professionals, appraisers, engineers or contractors, because no such review takes place. We do not publish author biographies, credentials, certifications or endorsements that do not exist, and we do not present invented statistics, testimonials or case studies.
Nothing on this site is professional financial, tax, legal or construction advice. It is informational content and estimating tools, and it should be checked against quotes, assessments and professional guidance before you act on it. See the full disclaimer.
How the calculations run on HomeCalcUSA.com
Every calculator on HomeCalcUSA.com computes in your browser from the values you type. A monthly mortgage payment is produced by the standard amortization formula applied to your purchase price, down payment, interest rate and term. Where a tool adds taxes and insurance, the property tax rate and annual premium you enter are divided into a monthly escrow figure and shown separately from principal and interest, so you can see which part of the payment is the loan and which part is the property.
Material tools work the same way. A cost estimate for gravel, concrete, flooring, paint or roofing is geometry plus unit conversion plus the unit price you supply — never a hidden national average. Because a lender offers tax and insurance figures that differ from your own assumptions, and because suppliers price by region, we treat every output as a planning figure to be checked against a real quote or Loan Estimate.
Frequently asked questions about our editorial process
- Who writes the content? HomeCalc USA, an independent publisher. Formulas are documented on the page they power and checked against worked examples. No licensed professional reviews the content.
- Are results personalised? No. Results depend only on the inputs you enter. Exact figures are not stored; anonymous usage events are described in the privacy policy.
- How often is content reviewed? Whenever a formula, default assumption or cited reference changes, and whenever a reader reports a problem.
- Do you accept paid placements in calculators? No. Advertising is labelled and never influences a formula, default value or recommendation.
